Gold SafePQQ Accreditation

Argon Engineering has been awarded Gold SafePQQ accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace. This runs alongside our existing SafeContactor accreditation.

Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands
of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.

Argon Engineering’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business. SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.”
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Argon Engineering has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”

Argon Engineering are pleased to welcome the latest recruits to our team.

Stuart McCracken (right) – Goods Vehicle Operator.

Stuart has been recruited to operate our new HIAB truck and also brings with him skills in the fitting department, having worked in the engineering and agricultural sector.

Declan is a familiar face to the group, having previously served his time as a CNC Miller at Zeus Engineering before moving to Australia. He joins the machine shop team here at Argon to further his previous experience and develop his skills.

We wish them both every success in their careers with the AGZ Group!

Scott Averall – 20 Years Service

Congratulations Scott!

Today marks 20 years of service with the AGZ Group for Scott Averall, our Group HSEQ & Compliance Manager.

Scott joined Zeus Engineering Ltd in Airdrie as an apprentice on the 6th August 2001 where he worked in the CNC turning department for 16 years.  His efforts, consciousness, and hard work in this department along with his developing Health & Safety qualifications made him an ideal candidate to assume the role of Group Health & Advisor in February 2017.   Scott’s dedication to the role and business overall allowed him again to further develop his skills & qualifications leading to his appointment as Group HSEQ & Compliance Manager in August 2018.

Scott is a valuable member of our team and continues to drive significant changes and improvements throughout the group, whilst ensuring compliance and looking after the health, safety & wellbeing of all our employees.

Thank you, Scott, for your contribution and support over the past two decades and congratulations from all your colleagues and friends at Argon Engineering, Gillrick Metalwork & Zeus Engineering  (AGZ Group).

Here’s to the next 20 years!

The Legend has retired!

Tom McDonald has hung up his boots, after 48 years at Zeus Engineering.

Everyone at AGZ Group would like to thank Tam for his hard work and dedication over the years and wish him a very happy and healthy retirement.

We asked him for a few words – “I would just like to say the last 48 years have been varied, some really good times and some hard times, but on the whole Zeus has been very good to me and the workmates I’ve had have been the best you could ask for. I am off into the sunset now to put my feet up. But, I’ll be back!”
